This collaboration features the work of Claudia Pettway Charley, a fourth-generation quilter from Gee’s Bend, Alabama. Rooted in her experiences as a child under her grandmother’s quilting frame, Claudia’s designs emerge intuitively from available fabrics, eschewing sketches or strict plans. This freeform artistry deeply connects to community and personal narrative. The collection includes pillows made from handcrafted cotton blocks, honoring the visual storytelling of African American textile arts. Denim, a key material, symbolizes the Gee’s Bend community's work and resilience. Claudia’s quilting tells instinctive stories, blending traditional patterns with abstraction, influenced by emotion and her sense of place.
