Etamine
Kantha draws inspiration from antique hand-embroidered Indian patchwork blankets, celebrating the traditional craftsmanship of Kerala's weaving heritage. Each piece begins with meticulous screen-printing across 12 distinct stages, layering colour and pattern onto 5600 threads of dense BCI cotton before weaving commences. This labour-intensive process creates the distinctive patchwork design whilst preserving the fabric's rich, authentic colouring. The result is a textile that honours centuries of artisanal technique, from 17th-century Provençal boutis quilts to contemporary Indian textile traditions.
