Rubelli
Cuoridoro was the name given to producers of embossed leather in Venice. Since ancient times, the Venetians have practiced the art of gilding the leather and hide used to clad the walls of rooms, seats, books and other surfaces. This rich lampas takes a fresh look at the motif of a rare example of this refined art kept in a room of the Renaissance Palazzo Vendramin Calergi. An exaltation of flowers, leaves and fruit proceed vertically, joined together by elegant rocaille volutes drawn by acanthus leaves. The weave, of high technical quality, is further enhanced by the choice of fibres, giving light to the pattern and helping simulate the grain of the leather on the satin ground by means of deliberate floats of the weft.
