Enchanted Wood

Enchanted Wood captures the essence of the Botanical Atlas collection, a curated exploration of nature's most captivating forms through the lens of Sir Arthur Liberty's pioneering travels. This design draws from the designer's documented expeditions across Japan, China, Persia and India during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, synthesising diverse artistic traditions into a cohesive whole. The pattern weaves together ethereal botanical imagery with fantastical fauna, informed by Chinoiserie aesthetics, Persian miniature painting, Mughal artistic conventions and the refined sensibilities of the Japanese Edo period. Rendered in a sophisticated palette of jewel tones and earthy hues, Enchanted Wood exemplifies Liberty's distinctive approach—honouring centuries-old craft techniques whilst infusing them with distinctly modern visual language and contemporary design principles.
