Forest Hills draws from the Botanical Atlas collection's exploration of nature's most enchanting forms, inspired by Sir Arthur Liberty's documented travels through Japan, China, Persia and India during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. This design synthesises artistic influences gathered across these regions into a cohesive, sophisticated composition. The textile features layered botanical and zoological imagery informed by the delicate linearity of Chinoiserie aesthetics, the narrative precision of Persian garden miniatures, the decorative richness of Mughal painting and the understated refinement of Japanese Edo period art. Each element has been thoughtfully reinterpreted through a distinctly modern lens, honouring traditional craft methodologies whilst embracing contemporary design sensibilities. Rendered in a carefully balanced palette of deep forest tones accented with jewel hues, Forest Hills exemplifies Liberty's mastery of translating historical artistic discovery into textiles of lasting elegance and cultural significance.
